Whale Tufnol Sheet is a grade of engineering plastic that is specifically designed for tough mechanical applications where strength and rigidity are important. Whale Tufnol Sheet is made from layers of resin impregnated woven cotton that compressed under heat to form an engineering plastic.

During manufacturing, the individual layers of Whale Tufnol Sheet are rotated ninety degrees as each layer is applied to improve flatness and help reduce any internal residual stress or stress caused due to machining or sawing.

Whale Tufnol Sheet is also an engineering plastic that has low moisture absorption which makes it popular with above waterline marine applications. Whale Tufnol Sheet also has excellent wear properties making it an engineering plastic most suited to wear strips, slideways gears and pulleys.

IP/13 grade Tufnol Sheet is an engineering plastic that is made from resin impregnated paper layers that are compressed under heat to produce a very flat and tough engineering plastic that because of its electrical insulation advantages is often chosen for insulation boards and low voltage switchgear.

Tufnol Kite Grade is a grade of engineering plastic that is best suited to higher voltage electrical insulation applications although this grade is very rigid it is not as tough as other grades. Tufnol Kite grade is manufactured from very high quality paper which gives it the high electrical insulation properties.
