Rod Tolerances
Manufacturers produce engineering plastic rod that is slightly bigger in diameter that the advertised size. This will vary between materials and between diameter range. This oversize tolerance is added to assist customers lightly machine the rod diameter back to the advertised size removing any slight surface imperfections. We aim to supply lengths of each rod as accuratly as possible sometimes allowing for material loss during sawing.
Sheet Tolerances
Manufacturers produce engineering plastic sheet that can often be slightly thicker than the advertised size. This will vary between materials and between thickness range. This oversize tolerance is added to assist customers to sometimes machine the thickness back to the advertised size removing any slight surface imperfections. We aim to supply sheet sizes as accurate as possible, sometimes allowing for material loss during sawing.
Tufnol Tolerances
The table below shows the dimensional tolerances permitted on Tufnol laminated sheets in the 'as moulded' condition. These tolerances based on the relevant British Standards or BS EN Standards for each Tufnol grade.
All sizes and tolerances quoted are in millimetres
Tolerances specified are PLUS AND MINUS from the nominal size. For example, reading from the table below, a Paper Based Tufnol sheet of 3.0mm nominal thickness may vary in thickness from 2.75mm to 3.25mm.
Notes: Due to manufacturing process, sheet thickness can vary at any point accross the entire sheet area and the below tolerances apply to any point over the entire sheet surface.

Tolerances for Moulded Round Rods
The table below shows the dimensional tolerances permitted on moulded round rods. These tolerances are based on the relevant British Standads or BS EN Standards.
Tufnol Round Rods are normally supplied with a ground outside diameter.
All sizes and tolerances quoted are in millimeters.
Dimensional tolerances specified are PLUS AND MINUS from the nominal size.
