Do prices include VAT? All prices are displayed both exclusive and inclusive of VAT which is charged at 20.00%, we will email you a VAT invoice on the Friday following your order. Return to top
Do you ship outside the UK? We can currently only offer delivery to the UK mainland excluding Scottish Highlands. We are in constant negociations with our carrier company in an attempt to extend our facility and will update and advise when we are succesful. Return to top
When will my order be delivered? We will endevour to despatch all orders processed before 14:00 the same day. We will email you a tracking number once your order has been dispatched. Return to top
How much will package & handling cost? Direct Plastics Online are proud to offer free package & handling for all orders over £50(exc VAT). For orders under this amount package & handling will be charged at £5.95. Return to top
How do i return an item? Please use the "Contact Us" section stating your order details and reason for return. Please note that returns may be subject to a 15% restocking charge. Return to top
What is long term service temperature? This is the highest temperature that a plastic can withstand for between 10,000 and 20,000 in hot air without losing more than 50% of its properties. Return to top
What is short term service temperature? This is the temperature that the plastic can withstand for a peroid of minutes without damage occurring. Return to top
Are black plastics acceptable for electrical insulation? Because the black pigment is potentially carbon based, it may be an advantage to select Natural(White) if insulation is an issue. Return to top
Which materials are acceptable for permanent food contact? We would advise the Natural(White) grades of the following: Acetal, HDPE, UHMWPE, Polypropylene and PTFE. Return to top
Which plastics are difficult to bond? We advise customers avoid Acetal, Polypropylene, HDPE and UHMWPE as the adhesion would be very low, PTFE is difficult but can be achieved. Return to top
Which plastics are best suited for high wear/sliding applications? Oilon, HDPE and UHMWPE are excellent. Nylon is also very good and is improved with the Mos2 additive. Acetal can also offer good wear. Return to top
Can I use plastic as a dry bearing? All bearing grade plastics will run dry but adding lubrication on assembly will improve performance considerably. Return to top
Are plastics affected by UV? Most plastics are affected by UV although PTFE provides very good resistance. In other materials, Black offers a reasonable protection option. Return to top
Which plastics offer good acid/chemical resistance? Resistance is affected by a number of factors, namely concentration, heat and duration etc but generally the best options are usually, Polypropylene, HDPE, PVC and PTFE. Return to top
Why can some materials crack during machining? Machining causes a build up of heat, stress and vibrations of which some materials like cast nylons particularly in large dimensions are susceptible. Coolant, sharp tools and taking smaller cuts can help. Return to top
