Polyurethane Rod
Direct Plastics Online - Polyurethane Rod

Our 90 shore Polyurethane Rod is a tough, shock absorbing material that is often used in high performance automotive suspension bushes. Our 90 Shore Polyurethane Rod is a low friction material that is resistant to oils and chemicals and offers excellent memory and rebound characteristics. Polyurethane Rod is used in press tools in place of springs and is also popular for Forklift and rollercoaster wheels.

Polyurethane Rod Machining
90-95 shore Polyurethane Rod can be machined but we would advise the use of "high speed steel" cutters rather than carbide and that these cutters are also ground as sharp as possible. Carbide cutters are normally not sharp enough to machine Polyurethane Rod and could tear the material rather than leaving a smooth finish. It has also been suggested that putting the Polyurethane Rod in a freezer may improve machinability, although this would only offer a temporary improvement.
